Meghalaya Governor Krishan Kant Paul takes additional charge of Nagaland 




Meghalaya Governor Krishan Kant Paul  today took over the additional charge as the 18th governor of Nagaland following the resignation of Ashwani Kumar from the post on June 25 last.
After his swearing-in, the governor in his address to the gathering stressed on the need to facilitate a conducive social environment, to enable the willing participation of all sections of society, for inclusive development.


Ram Naresh Yadav sworn-in as Chhattisgarh Governor
Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav was on Wednesday sworn-in as the Governor of Chhattisgarh.
Chief Justice Yatindra Singh of Bilaspur High Court administered the oath of office to Yadav in a function organized in Raipur at Raj Bhawan.
He has been given the additional charge of Chhattisgarh following the resignation of former Governor Shekhar Dutt. 




 Narendra Modi is the 2nd most popular politician on Facebook after Obama 

Narendra Modi has the fastest growing Facebook page for any elected official in the world and is only second after US president Barack Obama in terms of fan following of politicians, an official of the social networking website said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the world's second most popular politician, with over 18 million Facebook friends just behind US President Barack Obama.
An increasing number of politicians globally, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have been using social media such as Facebook and Twitter to connect with the masses. 




 Satya Nadella, Subra Suresh to be honoured for contributions to US 

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Carnegie Mellon University President Subra Suresh are among several immigrants who will be honoured this week on the occasion of America's independence day for their achievements and contributions towards making the US "vibrant and strong".






Jitu Rai is the world’s No 1 air pistol shooter




The 27-year-old armyman from Lucknow is the seventh Indian shooter to have achieved this feat.After winning three medals in the ISSF World Cups in Munich and Slovenia recently, in-form Indian shooter Jitu Rai today achieved the world's number one ranking in air pistol event.
Anjali Bhagwat, Rajyavardhan Rathore, Gagan Narang, Manavjit Singh Sandhu, Ronjon Sodhi and Heena Sidhu are the others to have claimed the numero uno position in their respective events.

World UFO Day

World UFO Day is an awareness day for people to gather together and watch the skies for unidentified flying objects. The day is celebrated by some on June 24, and others on July 2. 
The stated goal of the July 2 celebration is to raise awareness of "the undoubted existence of UFO’s” and to encourage governments to declassify their files on UFO sightings.

Facebook acquires video ad company LiveRail 


Facebook Inc is acquiring video advertising company LiveRail in the Internet social network's latest step to make video ads a bigger part of its business.
Facebook did not disclose a price for the San Francisco-based company, which was founded in 2007 and has offices in several countries.
LiveRail's technology automatically pairs video ads with the videos that appear on many websites, such as the sites for Major League Baseball, ABC and A&E Networks.


NASA launches first carbon-tracking satellite 

NASA on Wednesday launched a satellite to measure carbon dioxide levels.
The Orbiting Carbon Observatory-2, or OCO-2, satellite is the first one dedicated to monitoring carbon dioxide in the globe's atmosphere.
It is expected to help global leaders pinpoint emissions down to the country, state and city to determine which regions produce the most carbon dioxide.
